THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND EXTREME
SOUTHEAST KANSAS.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

significant accumulating freezing rain and sleet.
areas affected and timing:
north and east of a line from osceola to lebanon to eminence.
discussion:
an upper level storm system has moved into the eastern plains
and missouri valley region this morning. in response...a large
area of precipitation has moved over much of the nations mid
section. north and east of a line from osceola to lebanon to
eminence. low level thermal fields have assumed a structure
conducive for accumulating freezing rain and sleet. south of this
line...temperatures have fallen to near freezing...but only minor
accumulations of freezing rain are expected on elevated surfaces.
ice accumulations of up to one half inch are possible in the
warning area across central missouri...and scattered power outages
are possible. locations along the southern edge of the freezing
rain including springfield will only see minor ice accumulations
on elevated surfaces.
motorists are urged to not travel this morning in central missouri
as navigation will be very hazardous across many locations within
the warned area.
.days two through seven...sunday through friday.
another storm system will affect the region during the day on
monday. this system will likely produce accumulating snow along
and north of the interstate 44 corridor. lighter amounts will
occur across extreme southern missouri near the arkansas border.
at this time it appears as though two to five inches is possible.
area interests should monitor later forecasts and discussions
concerning accumulating snow potential by monday.
.spotter information statement...
spotter activation will not be needed through tonight...howeverspotters are urged to call in any reports of ice accumulations
and significant travel problems.

We just canceled church here in Webster Groves. The parking lot is a
sheet of ice already and it's only going to get worse. There is no way
to keep up with it as long as it is still precipitating. Only after it
stops sometime later this afternoon will we be able to clean surfaces
and keep them clean.
