Jen, you can step in here any time now!

Nancy,

Do you have a carnival midway. Maybe a ferris wheel? Gosh, that would be neat.

Actually these events are get togethers to eat, talk about caching, put faces
with names, and just have fun. Normally there are some attendance prizes (GPS,
hats, shorts, etc) that have been donated.

For the kids there are usually some nearby caches that are easy to find so
everyone win something. Maybe some Frisbees to throw around. The 3 legged races
sound like they could be fun too. You got some good ideas here.

For the "adults" there are normally some actual caches (3-5) that are hidden in
the area for the day and the cache sheets are passed out so they can be logged.

Ok. So say you're volunteering me for "something." Having never been to a
SLAGA event -- anyone care to describe one? I've been going through archived
event caches and not coming to any conclusions. What are kids' games? Are we
talking three-legged races and limbo or greased-pig chases? Bringing in a
carnival midway and dunking booths or lawn darts?

I've read references to cachers doing caches "like they've never done before"
-- meaning different kinds or suddenly you blindfold them and go by sense of
touch?

  Just getting background ....

  Nancy

    Nancy;

    Piece of cake!

Picnic is at least 5 weeks away and planned starting time is 11AM. You can
make your own hours. What an opportunity!

I'm sorry did you say something?
       :+)

I'm thinking .. this wouldn't require me to be anywhere at 7:00 AM would
it?

        Nancy,

You know that we're planning our Fall SLAGA picnic for late Sept or mid
Oct? (Details to be announced later). You mentioned the games sounds like "a
lot of fun". Does that mean that you're volunteering to help with the games
part of the picnic? :-)

We've never had games like that for the picnic, just some easy caches
for the kids, and some temporary caches hidden around for us "older" cachers.
We need some new blood with new ideas in our organization, so we'd be glad to
have you as a volunteer.

          maybe afterall ...

Poking around on the UTAG website after looking at their nifty logo,
, I had to chuckle that on their page of links: RATTLESNAKE BITE is at the
top followed by Snakebites in General and THEN Rocky Mountain Spotted fever.
Poison Ivy, apparently, is the least of their concerns!
          http://www.utahgeocachers.com/information.php

BTW -- and for what it's worth and any other edge-softening
transitional phrases, their logo is really nice. Um, I'm not big fan of the
proposed satellite, but, as a newbie, I was hesitant to say that out loud lol
-- since I do believe in the another good phrase of "Put Up or Shut Up" and
I've really nothing to offer.

Another observation, if you all haven't already, if you get a chance
-- DO spend some time puttering around on that site. Some of the "games"
sound like a lot of fun. A LOT of work for the sponsors, but fun..

after 40 ... LOL)
