I just sent them a photo copy of my title and retained the original. Don't sign the title you don't have to give it to them. Life is way to short to take serious. --- On Fri, 9/19/08, Jack Anderson <pandyandy3@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Jack Anderson <pandyandy3@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [GeoStL] Re: Vehicle titles - NGR To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Friday, September 19, 2008, 11:30 AM This is not my insurance company, it is the other guys. Mine said that they know of no reason that they should need my title or a copy of my title except to show proof of ownership. The were originally going to put a salvage title on my car and I had to tell them that in Missouri if a car is over 7 years old and I am retaining the vehicle even if they total it that no salvage title should be put on it. I got that information from the Troop C Headquarters Group very nice and help full people). It is only the other guy insurance that said they have to have a copy of my title or they can not pay me the money. It is them I do not trust anymore. 6 months from now after it is fixed and I go to get my plates renewed I don't want to find out that the State of Missouri says that I do not own the car anymore. That would be a big hassle. I did ask them why they need it, first it was for their own accounting records. When I told them I would show it to them as proof but not give them a copy they then said that is was for some kind of State auditing thing and they had to have the copy. They keep changing their mind about why they need it, that is why I do not trust them. Isn't there also something in Missouri about all property damage claims have to be settled in 30 days or it has to be reported to the state? --- On Fri, 9/19/08, Jon Mertz <jemertz@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Jon Mertz <jemertz@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [GeoStL] Re: Vehicle titles - NGR To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Friday, September 19, 2008, 9:38 AM I don't remember ever digging out my title when my Escort was totaled and I "bought it back." They did tell me I needed to get a salvage title for it. My recommendation is to speak with your insurance agent and see what the standard practice is. -Jon On Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 11:36 PM, Andrew Senger <asenger@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: - If they're purchasing the vehicle, you would have to sign the title to them. If you're re-buying from them, I would think they'd have to re-sign it to you. Either way, why don't you ask them why they need it. If it's simply for proof, offer to meet them at the agent's office or another location. That way, you stay with the title and they can get the info needed.
