I always enjoy riding Amtrack (but don't recommend their food-particularly
if you are vegetarian). So I am interested. I was hoping I could catch the
train in Alton and walk to the station, but it looks like that train
originates in STL.

My sister works for Avis so I get employee rates. But I checked out
availablity, hours and prices and there are problems. The hours are Sat
8-2pm and Sun 9-1 pm. Vans are listed as sold out for the weekend. But I
can rent a full size car (Impala) for $20 a day. But this option would
require me to stay over Sat night and return it Sunday.
