If he was that big, it sounds like you may have seen a coydog. They don't have the normal fear of humans that coyotes have, and can be dangerous. I would have double-tapped myself. Apropos of nothing, I saw a coyote on my way home from work tonight. He walked in front of me on the exit from 370 to Spencer and stopped about 20 feet from the pavement. There was no traffic so I stopped, too, and he just stared straight at me. The biggest coyote I have ever seen in the "wild" Soooooo cool. I instantly heard Johnny Cash's voice in my head.
