- I was typing up a paper at school and had some problems with power fluctuations and screen distortions. I'm pretty sure it did have something to do with the solar flares. On MSN yesterday, they explained the resemblance of this flare to one in 1989, but the strongest on record was in 1860. (about) That 1860 flare shorted telegraph wires and set small brush fires in europe, asia, and North America.
