Thank you Susan and all the other well wishes. If anyone wants to recommend
a particular pepper spray please do so. But I see a trip to Bass Pro Shops
or Cabello's very soon.

Regards,

Zeke (ZLA)

PS...putting pepper spray on my shopping list.

BTW, my zookeeper daughter tells me that the keepers at her zoo are supposed
to keep it on their person whenever they're on duty ( lions, tigers and
bears, oh my, among other dangerous beasts). Apparently pretty effective.

Hello fellow geocachers.

On the Riverwoods Trail along the Missouri River Greenway that there are two
pit bull mixed breed dogs that are DANGEROUS. I was attacked and bitten by
them this afternoon. I was fortunate in that I had a hiking stick with me
and was able to keep them partially at bay for a steady 800' retreat to my
car. But if I didn't have the stick to distract them or had a longer walk
back to the car, it could have much worse. As it was, the ER nurse had to
get a second batch of needles to inject the Rabies vaccine around all of my
wounds. I say this so that you will know how serious the danger is at this
time.

Animal Control will be driving the trail twice a day for the next 10 days in
hopes of tranquilizing and capturing the two dogs. They may belong to one of
the nearby businesses but they could also be strays. Until then I will be
avoiding the geocaches in that area. I will post a note if I hear that the
dogs have been captured.

As a final piece of advice, the police officer suggested I carry cayenne
pepper based pepper spray which I will be picking up before my next outing.
