Having finished the challenge, I want to encourage those of you that have
started to keep at it. Yes it takes time and a lot of gas, but it's so worth
it. You will find that there are actually hills in southern Illinois,
beautiful forests and scenery in southern Missouri. Having never been south
of Elephant Rock State Park, I was amazed at the scenery and look forward to
going back. Not all counties require day hikes to get the caches either. You
may have to drive a bit farther than the county line to get to a cache, but
it's a perfect way to spend a hot (or cold) day with friends.

Just a quick shout out about my SLAGA County Challenge. There are now
100 cachers who have logged a note to say they are starting the
challenge. Only 17 have finished. I thought there would be a lot of
people finishing it up this summer but there has been only one
finisher since mid-June. Let's get out and explore this area we call
SLAGA territory!
If you are working on it, I'm curious about how close you are to
finishing. Obviously, this is a public forum so if you don't want to
be specific, that's fine, but I'd like to hear some comments.
