So, what you're saying, Tom, is that I should definitely wear my RoadID
bracelet in case they have to identify... :p

You're talking about starting at the Fox Creek Road lot down south by I-44,
right? And maybe leaving a car at the north lot (the one MDC calls the Fox Run
lot? We talking trail miles or did you plan on bushwhacking? If you're
bushwhacking, there are places where private property intrudes along the west
side of the range. Depends on your route. I have hiked here several times and
have done about half the caches (mostly the older ones). Did them mostly on
trail, though.
I am not kidding about it being uphill from south to north. And even parking
close, there's a reason Jim called it Mercy!!! :-D
I notice that the new gc.com map shows the trail system here if you zoom in far
enough. There is also an MDC map here:
http://extra.mdc.mo.gov/documents/area_brochures/4649map.pdfEven shows the
parking lot locations. You really don't want to walk back along Fox Creek if
you can help it.
Would love to go. But I'm not sure I'm going to be free for this much time on
Saturday.

If we don't have to walk back to the vehicles, and if the caches are easy to
spot. I would guess 3-4 hours. But then I've have never hiked this area.

Rockwoods Range caching hikeFrom: david.dewitt63@gmail.comTo:
geocaching@freelists.orgWho would like a nice walking in the park. Looking for
anyone that would like to find the caches in Rockwoods Range. There are six
caches dating back to 2003. The plan is to start at the south parking lot on
Fox Creek Road and hike our way north through all the caches. No running
around in cars to closest point. Round trip would be about 7 miles, but if we
have several cars we can drop off some at the northwest parking lot and cut off
2.4 miles of narrow road walking. My tentative plans are to meet at Denny's in
Eureka, MO at 6:30 am Saturday 5/23/2015 morning for breakfast. Then drive down
to the park to walk off breakfast.Team_Stateaka Dave and Kathy
