Hi Jen,
You probably won't hear from Butch. He hasn't been around for a long time, as
far as I know. This cache was placed back in the day when every detail of a
cache was not on the cache page and the potential finder actually had to do a
bit of research or consult a map.

The cache page does state that you will get wet, which would normally deter
folks from trying to find it in Feb. (Sometimes, our crazy weather does allow
for creek fords in Feb.) I remember this was not just a hop-on-rocks crossing,
you really will get wet. Tim mentioned in his log on 02/02/03 that the area is
closed from 10/15 - 4/15. Also, Bruce found it on 12/26/01 by parking further
down the road.

I agree that the open season should be on the cache description. However, its
always a good idea to read all of the logs on more remote caches or ones that
aren't found very often. I do hope you make it back there next spring/summer.
It truly is a great cache, as are all of Butch's caches.

cache on,
Dana

  Subject: [GeoStL] Question

  -
What does one do when they find out a cache is unavailable due to the area
being closed certain parts of the year and it isn't listed on that caches page?
Shouldn't this be on the caches page? Or the cache made unavailable when the
area is closed?
I have notified the owner and heard nothing. I do think it needs on the
cache page instead of driving that distance to discover the area closes in the
winter and opens the 2nd week of April. (I found this info out from locals in
the area)

I see a log entry from roelsch who was there in Oct. and mentions the gate
was closed then. So that is over 3 months of it being closed.

Who wants to drive that far for a cache to discover you aren't allowed in the
area because it is seasonal?

  Thanks
  Jen
