I have never (touch wood) had PI, but was always told to wash with lye soap to 
get it off. You also should wash your clothes separately including shoes, to 
get the oils off. You can get PI from touching clothes that have been exposed 
to the oil. You can get it any time of the year too.

Of course, I make a lovely natural PI Salve for those afflicted! And will have 
some at the Christmas party along with honey lye soap which really is good for 
PI. The cortisone sounds like a good idea also.

It has alcohol in it which we believe breaks down the oil. May be our wishful 
thinking.
