Technically, the Civil War ended 139 years ago. (There were battles for
several weeks AFTER the surrender at Appomattox.)
The last surviving Civil War veteren died in 1956.
Amazingly enough, the last surviving Civil War WIDOW hung around quite awhile.
She died today at the age of 97.
