Nancy ParkPalooza is September 27 & 28 Celebrate National Public Lands Day at ParkPalooza, a two-day interactive event on the grounds of the Gateway Arch on September 27 and 28, 2008. This certified National Park Service Centennial event will introduce children to the opportunities for fun, education, and recreation that exist in parks. Ten interactive venues will be set up on the park's grounds. Venues will be staffed by NPS rangers from our park and other park sites. In addition, state and local agencies such as Department of Conservation and Department of Natural Resources and area commercial institutions and organizations will assist with the event by providing volunteers and services. ParkPalooza is designed to be a FREE annual event and one that can also be replicated by other parks. Some of the featured activities include: a.. Rock climbing wall and simulated archeology dig b.. Setting up campsites and learning how to pack a backpack c.. Historic character portrayals and living history demonstrations d.. Music and dance, art experiences, and hands-on craft activities e.. Seasonal Time and Activity Changes Please be aware that the Gateway Arch Riverfront runs seasonal hours and changes in times and activies begin to happen in the month of September: a.. Gateway Arch Trams run 9:20 am - 5:10 pm starting Sept. 3rd. b.. Bike Rentals are Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. c.. "Docktails" before Dinner Cruises stops after Labor Day Weekend. d.. Arch View Cafe hours change based on Riverboat Cruise times. Please note that most of our activities are open to the public year round and that extended hours and activities will return during Memorial Day 2009. Finally, the 2008 State Farm Arch Rivalry marks the fourth year of the schools' Labor Day weekend series in St. Louis. Last year, Mizzou held on for a thrilling 40-34 win. It was victory No. 1 in a season that saw the Tigers capture the Big 12 North, win the Cotton Bowl, and finish 12-2. Illinois had its own season to remember. The Illini recorded an impressive nine wins, beat top ranked Ohio State in Columbus, and earned a trip to the Rose Bowl.
