Hi Jen,

Do you have ZoneAlarm installed?

If so you need to set up the firewall to accept century tel input.

This is the best description of how to set it up that I have seen.

themand they don't have an answer, other than to tell me some people have a
problem, where others don't and they don't know why. I have done as you
mentioned and still get the same message. I also have Microsoft Outlook
installed (came with my PDA) and have even tried using it, and no luck there
either. Any other suggestions? Thanks Jen From: Mike Lusicic

Apr 2006 01:41:37.0947 (UTC) FILETIME=[E9FCDEB0:01C65788] - Is Century tel
your DSL Provider? You might want to try turning off the SSL option and see
if that works for you. If you go to Tools/Accounts Click on the Mail tab
thenclick on the account, then click Properties. Select the Servers tab.
Uncheck the box "Log on using secure password authentication". The other
issue might be because Century Tel is not your DSL provider. If youDSL
provider is different, then Century Tel may not accept mail logons >from
outside its own network in an effort to keep spammers from using their mail
servers. In that case, you can use your DSL provider's outgoing mail server,
but use your other account for incoming mail. I have to do that. I have an
AT&T mail account, but my DSL is with SBC. Of course they are one now, but
they were not that way when I first started. The only problem I haveseen
doing that is the rare gung-ho email administrator that sets up their email
server to reject email with a reply-to address from a different domain than
the sending email server domain. Again, that looks a lot like spam. Jen ****

I have contacted Century Tel (my server) about this problem and all they can
tell me is that some people have this problem others don't and they don't
know why. They have went through the set up process etc. and I keep getting
an error message. This is the message I get from Outlook Express: Theserver
responded with an error. Account: '2geocachers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx[1[21]]',
Server: 'mail.so.centurytel.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG
POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90 I did
change from dialup to DSL could there be a setting issue with that? I use
Windows XP. Any suggestions? Thanks Jen
