[GeoStL] NCR-laptop battery problem

Can anyone explain why a laptop will not recognize a brand new battery just
installed?
Using a Dell Studio 1735 laptop and purchased new battery. Right off the
message on laptop is This system will not recognize installed battery".
Now what? Heeeellppp and advice please.
