- MICROSOFT REPLACING POWER CORDS IN 14 MILLION XBOXES If you own an Xbox game console manufactured before Oct. 23, 2003, Microsoft wants to replace your power cord. The company has had reports of burns and scorched carpets. You can enter your serial number on the Web to get a new cord. There is a diagram available to show you the number's location. The recall affects about 70 percent of the Xboxes sold. Microsoft said there have been 30 reports of burned hands or damaged property. That is fewer than one in 10,000 Xboxes sold.
