FYI... This went out from the Corps of Engineers to over 30 news agencies...

Mark Twain Lake-March 24, 2008---Mark Twain Lake, in partnership with the St. Louis Area Geocachers Association, will again host the 2008 Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure (MOGA) on April 4-6. Geocaching competitors and participants from the United States and Canada will converge on the Spalding Recreation Area to compete in individual, two person, or four person cache-finding events. In 2007, this successful event attracted over 700 people who competed and non-competitors who searched because they love the sport. All came to enjoy old friends and make new ones. MOGA 2008 is already on track to surpass last year's totals.

Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a treasure hunt game utilizing a Global Positioning System unit (GPS) to seek hidden caches. Typical caches are surplus ammunition boxes or water-tight plastic containers containing a log book, and small trinkets. Players of the game hide caches, generally on public lands, and then post the cache's longitude and latitude coordinates on a website such as www.geocaching.com. Sixty caches have been placed for this year's competition, which will remain in place after the event for visitors to find.

If you are interested in learning about geocaching or competing, we invite you to participate in MOGA 2008. For further information, contact Allen Mehrer at (573) 735-4097.
