Here is the reply back from Garmin....

Thank you for contacting GARMIN.

At this time Serial communication is still the standard in the GPS world.
In order to be universally compatible, units must NMEA compatible. NMEA is
a standard language of electronics and is transferred at the 4800 baud rate.
Therefore, the most common solution for PCs without a serial port is the USB
to Serial Adapter cable.

Garmin does not offer any of our GPS to PC cables with a USB connection we
do offer a USB to Serial converter cable part number 010-10310-00 for
$59.99.
This cable will connect to the PC cable you have and allow you to connect
the unit to your PC.
You can purchase this adapter cable from your local Garmin dealer or from
Garmin directly at 1-800-800-1020.

Multiple companies make USB to Serial Port converters. KeySpan and Belkin
to name a few if you would like to see what other converters are out there.

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
Thank You,

I would like to find a cable for my MAP 76S that has the cig adapter and a
USB adapter. Any ideas? Do they make one of these?
Will Mapsource support a USB connection?
