many times, since they know that the bad glue is a manufacturers defect,
they will just take it back and send out another unit no matter of the age.

That's encouraging. Still, I'd just as soon they just sent me a new one. Perhaps tell me what glue they use - so I can try something else. (I suspect it is a form of RTV Silicone rubber.)
