We had to go down on Manchester Rd. today and we could see where the tornado crossed 270 just past the I-70 exchange. The trees on the west side of the highway were broken and houses damaged, leaves and other debris was up against the center concrete divider and then across the highway all of the houses were damaged and trees were broken. It was horrible to see all of the destruction. Can you imagine being on 270 at that moment? They were pulling a couple of cars out of the ditch on the east side of the highway. I hope the people inside of them were ok. We've been in touch with our Bellefontaine Friends and they are without power, but are OK. Had not heard about the damage where Andrew described. That is one of the nicer areas in Bellefontaine, older, unique homes. I'll have to have my daughter check her Facebook friends--a few swim team members live in that area. An odd story - I was looking at our High School Reunion Facebook page and ran across a few people I was interested in. One of those people sent me a friend request yesterday morning and I was debating whether or not to accept it. Meanwhile, another friend accepted and told me this person was one of the families in Bridgeton who had to be rescued by the fire department from their basement, with homes around them completely destroyed. Can't even imagine. Only about a mile south, though, is a different story. Nancy, the housing area between City Hall and Chambers got hit hard. There were three huge trees uprooted within a block. Lots of damage.
