I know exactly what you speak of. I have bought and used a couple of those 
myself. They really work well for caching and are easily painted if desired.

FYI --

While on one of life's many trips to Wal-Mart, I stumbled on what looks like 
an acceptable alternative to the usual bison tubes that everyone finds in 
use.  In the Pharmacy area, tucked in with the hearing aid batteries, 
thermometers, blood pressure monitors, and other pill boxes and containers, 
I found the "EZY DOSE Pill Fob Keychain".

Looks amazingly like a shiny aluminum fat Bison tube and comes with an 
O-ring seal.  For a couple of bucks, it's a handy replacement (emergency or 
otherwise...) for standard fare.  Only drawbacks that I see: no choices on 
size and color...
