Glenn, Slabtown is a piece of cake and a 1/4 mile easy walk. The small trail from the top down into the cave is the hard part, only because it's narrow and rocky. Only one steep part but there are trees and roots to hold on too. Thanks to Elaine and I expert map reading skills, we took some excellent gravel back roads (both towards the cave and away from the cave) but never got to the cave. Then Paul took over and went some stupid paved road way and we got there in 10 minutes. You need to go SO. on 63 to Licking and go in that way. Clifty Creek is another "don't miss" place. If you go the suggested route at the trail head sign, it's 1/4 mile down to the creek (easy walk) and then 1 mile in the creek. The creek isn't bad at all since it's pretty dry and it's a nice scenic walk. There was only one place where we had to cross water and it was maybe 6" deep and 6-8 feet across. (see picture of Dan placing rocks). Once you get at 90 degrees to the cache, stay in the creek! If you bushwhack to the cache you'll miss the natural bridge, which is the best part of the trip. Keep following the creek and it will take you to the natural bridge and then follow the creek under the bridge up to the cache. Dan showed us the shortcut so you don't need to walk the creek back, but that will cost you more for the details. ----- Original Message ----- From: Glenn To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 8:23 AM Subject: [GeoStL] Re: 9/8/2002 - SLAGA's Rolla Cache Trip Report Looks like ya’ll had a great trip.
