Atlanta. We are offering an art therapy workshop on May 29th and June 19th

PRESENTER: Annie Kelahan, LPC, A.T.R., ACS, BC
DESCRIPTION: This interactive and experiential workshop will focus on sharing
practical information about the use of art with clients in individual,
couples, family, and group therapy settings. Participants will (a) review a
brief history of art therapy and four primary uses of art in therapy, (b)
discuss the benefits of using art withdifferent populations, (c) experience
the use of a variety of art, (d) gain an awareness of how to respond
therapeutically to artwork, and (e) receive specific art interventions via
suggestion and handouts.

Self Portraits (Part II ONLY)

PRESENTER: Annie Kelahan, LPC, A.T.R., ACS, BC
DESCRIPTION: This experiential training is designed to assist clinicians with
the use of collage, story sticks, and abstract self portrait making in the
clinical setting. Following a brief introduction, participants will engage
in creative endeavor in order to become familiar with the process, and to
experience the power of this art making. Participants should have a basic
understanding of the use of art in therapy prior to attending this workshop.
No artistic talent or experience is needed. All materials will be provided,
as well as a materials hand out and basic directions. Participants will:
Become familiar with the use of collage, story sticks, and abstract self
portraits in therapy
Experience making a collage, story stick and an abstract self portrait
Learn about timing and strategic use of these interventions with a variety of
populations, from children through adults
Review materials needed to create these items, and how to assist clients with
successfully creating the items
