Dale,
I changed to a blank layout, same table. I haven't been able to get the error
to crop up again, so I bet that's it. In my case it might not be as hard as
yours to track down, I'm free to test a field at a time, and there are only
about 50 records in this table!
Thanks again, it seems to be the solution. Ironic, this was causing pages that
have worked otherwise to fail, pulling unused data just for a test.
Chris, if I track down the field and record I'll tell you the "illegal"
character.

Troy, mine was a find-all request. I just had to keep changing the found
set size until I zeroed in on the culprit.
