Hi, Depending on the option you passed to the "fw log" command (option FWLOGOPTS recommaned value "-ftn") the FW-1 log is either read from its beginning or from the last entries as they arrive to the management station. The server side of FwGold does not use RRD as it stores its counters in memory and waits for the client to connect and grab them. It is the client which stores the values onto a RRD database. FwGold server is a bit a resource eater because it has to match each log entry against the user filter configuration which is a resource intensive task. 100% CPU is nevertheless too much but then again it really depends on what system you run FwGold server on, how many log entries per second you have, how complex your filter definition (userdb.conf) is, etc. etc. I personally have FwGold server taking 10-15% CPU on a Sun Netra T1 receiving about 1.5 Million log entries per day.
