Workshop #1: Public Library Funding & Budgeting
9:30am - Noon
Presenter: Ron McCabe

Attend this workshop to learn strategies for managing the local impact
of the 2011-2013 Wisconsin State Budget. Strategies for explaining the
importance of libraries and creating budgets that do more with less will
be presented.

Ron's nonpartisan presentation will focus on these topics:

* Budgeting strategies for this new era

* Defending local library funding now

Ron McCabe is director of the McMillan Memorial Library in Wisconsin
Rapids, and president-elect of the Wisconsin Library Association.

Workshop #2: BISAC Overview Over Lunch
12:15 - 1:15 pm
Presenter: Karen Boehning

Unlike the Dewey Decimal System which categorizes related knowledge
systematically, BISAC is an alphabetical list of categories from
Antiques and Collectibles to True Crime. Each of the 50 subject areas
has nearly 100 sub-categories each. BISAC (Book Industry Standards and
Communications) is a system adapted from the book industry.

Karen will provide information on BISAC or subject groupings in
libraries, and how it might work with SirsiDynix Symphony and the Dewey
Decimal System.

Karen Boehning is Technology Coordinator at the Winnefox Library System.
