[fsug-calicut] resolution probs in jaunty

i installed jaunty in my freind's lap ( lattitude c640 256 ram)
but its maximum resolution is 800 x 600....
and
how to stretch the gdm screen to fit the entire laptop screen (its now at
the middle)
