[fsug-calicut] TAR error.

I have a problem with tar..i was trying to copy and edit the gammu examples
for configuring... in that while extracting gammurc.tar.gz., i am getting
the message
( i fast used gunzip and got this gammu.tar)
#tar xvf gammurc.tar
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
or while rying the way
#tar -zvcf gammurc.tar.gz
i get
tar: Cowardly refusing to create an empty archive
Try `tar --help' or `tar --usage' for more information.
i tried googling a lot... the solutions i got from that didn work for
me...can anyone pls help me with this..
i am using lenny. and gammu was with in the repo disc.
