MINUTES
@Ragul, @Kamal : Representation of movements contribution based on free SW/HW
works - with several responsibilities. Earlier meetings for Django is conducted
to develop hactivist, where initially what kind of social factors to be
included were discussed and noted. Essential features based on such were
listed. For retrospection, introspection, … a means for measurement for self
evaluation, etc..
@Kamal : Means of proper communication, scheduling, meetup, work need to be
collectively practised with commitment.
@Ragul : Lack of skill to commission necessary information services (existing
free software, like discuss) needs to be addressed. Taking responsibility for a
service by a member in EC will give them a skill development and industrial
exposure as a way to learn from the collective process. Thus tech sessions can
be organized based on the lack of skill.
@Prasanna : Prioritizing collective goal, equipping skills and nurturing
mindset for apt political ideology, practising before preaching (FOSS,…),
constructing mass fronts in GLUG form as primary focus. Measuring GLUGs
subjectively by EC and taking necessary guidance. Provide resources for GLUG
leaders (coordinators) and its members to ease them use FOSS OS, tools, etc…
Decentralizing tech sessions at GLUG level. Collective Peer Education on
theoretical frameworks, and being diverse - not necessarily only coding,
advocacy, documentation, publishing, . Federating GLUG’s for Freedom day
celebration. Ensuring the above as fundamental task for EC.
@Prasanna, @Balu : EC must not be the hegemonic structure, instead help guide
and organize the community structurally. Identifying priorities, and schedule
tasks concisely and discretely will help quantize, reflect and act. Identify
basic priorities.
@Giri, @Infant : Introducing GLUGs to colleges in Pondy and in Cuddalore and
provide them with proper guiding resources. Generate social media contents that
in a way will provide a way for anticipatory recognition in institutions.
Discuss platform is expected.
@Harthi, @Kiruthiga : Peer education, and learning through transparently
exchanging knowns and interests. Addressing the Role vaccuum of each individual
members in the community.
@Ranjith, @Kiruthiga : 3D printer as a structural machine is ready, apart from
making it work using the firmware is required, by customizing it to fit for the
built structure is required.
@Giri : Android Mobiles, by DeGAFAMING, and dissemination to the wider public
needs to be done in ways of privacy, surveillance, attention, etc… is stressed.
@Sarath, @Noordine : Organizing interest groups, GLUGs, and mapping projects to
the GLUGs is recommended.
@Jagadeesh : Tech sessions to Social problems/solution framing mapping and
connection using hackathons.
@Akila : Recommendation of participation from general public, students in
events can be changed into knowledge seeking participation and make
certification romanticization as secondary.
@Jagadeesh : How to break the question, “So what, if my data is hoarded or
stole”, “So what, if my privacy is violated” …. among friend and family circles
@Maniraj : Knowing what is Hacktivism, who is a Hacktivist and thus how
Hacktivist will act as a instrumental platform in long term. How Sunday market
(local informal and formal organizing) interaction with the community is a
vital and important factor.
@Ranjith, @Prasanna : Knowledge gap, awareness gap between disciplines of
engineering… for instance awareness of influence of information technology and
software is different for computer science, IT students or profession.
Recognizing the learning curve involved in even using proprietary software (ex
: windows). Thus introducing FOSS as political/philosophical alternatives with
privacy, labour, transparency perspectives takes longer and hard work to
recognize. But attempting from use value, feature richness, economic advantage,
is working, and thus needs FOSS tool skill, points, social skill when ready to
work. Being Empathetic group is stressed. Increasing Membership as the social
solution is recommended for the questions and concerns raised.
@Arjun : Acknowledged @jagadeesh point. Inspired from @Ghanesh usage of
GNU/Linux. Disseminate from USE value, ATTRACTION point of view to general
public.
@Kiruthiga : Recognized commons based alternatives, but the general public view
are different. Thus identifying common areas where overlapping personal use
cases as well as using of FOSS personally can by nature acknowledge and tie
with the community. Advised taking FOSS to youth rather than elders. Bring it
to authorities to impart policies for FOSS education.
@Arun : Acknowledged @Jagadeesh connectivity between tech and society. Thanked
OB and EC members for the improvement
@Giri : Kindling curiosity
@Cosmo, @Noordine : Stressed Women/Gender Participation by organizing a sub
committee.
------------
