dear frie= nds,
jen brady-cotter unveiled the most complete version of our web site= ,
www.fsf60k.org. check it out and you'll agree it's eye-catching and fu= ll
of
information. more features will be added, including an online paym= ent
system, but for now it gives us a solid position on the internet and= will
be
key to fund-raising, communicating and reaching new members. am= ong coming
attractions are a photo gallery and newspaper clippings. your= suggestions
for improving the site are welcome. minutes from the monthl= y meeting, such
as this one, will be posted. jen deserves our thanks, an= d more, for
persisting with this project despite a number of obstacles.lisa flanagan,
adviser to students, reported that both the winter and sp= ring
trips went well, and cultural experiences were added to the
usualconstruction. on the nuevo amanecer regional water project, she
expressed=
confidence that it will be completed successfully. an engineer's report= is
expected in early may, and the project will take six-seven months on= ce
under
way. families will be expected to pay toward the cost of the wa= ter, with
the
proceeds going into a reserve fund for maintenance and oth= er future costs.
shari kornblatt noted the the nuevo literacy program is= becoming more
popular. it's designed for older children who are playing= catch-up because
they did not receive an elementary school education.rosa ojeda, a teacher in
chacraseca and a leader of the nuevo literacyprogram, is coming to the new
york area this weekend and will spend severa= l
days here. if you wish to meet her, and perhaps secure an autograph, c=

george pardo, our nicarag= ua chairman, plans to establish his own
nonprofit,
transtec americas inc= ., with a business plan. its mission will be to
foster
sustainable econo= mic development, fueled by technologies that will work in
the third worl= d. he plans to obtain 501c3 status, but until then would
funnel donation= s through friends. one technology he mentioned is using
bags
of earth as= building materials.
