Got one from Yad Sarah and it is 23.5*18 cm - so that supports what David has 
said. The envelope is very plain on the outside with the words . . . אבא, אמרת 
לי שתחזור הביתה which I must say gets me tearing even before I opened it! It is 
clearly implying "open me to read the full story" although I think it would 
have been a little stronger if there was a graphic - say a picture of the kid & 
his father in his soldier uniform. Other than that it just has the logo on the 
outside and the recipient address on the back.

I heard on a podcast once that there are two equally effective options for 
envelopes: either something really unique and different (like the Yad Sarah 
example) OR a completely plain, standard sized, blank envelope with no logo, no 
return address, no nothing (it is so simple but obviously anyone would open 
such an envelope addressed to them out of sheer curiosity!).

Just bear in mind, that when you say your mailing requires a "large envelope", 
that the size doesn't exceed 25 x 18 cm.
Anything larger than this, and the postal service will not deliver it to 
people's homes and it will require collection.
Many years ago, the organization I was working for at the time, sent a special 
mailing as part of a massive campaign, in a larger envelope.
A tiny percentage of the many thousands of people who were sent the mailing 
bothered to collect from the post office – and a lot of thought, effort and 
money was wasted.
So when I saw your posting, I was reminded of the upset we had – and wanted to 
share this friendly advice.
B'hatzlacha – good to see there are still a few of us out there who still 
combine snail mail with their digital mailing campaigns.

While I'm sure the rest of your organization is off on vacation, I'm sure that 
like me, you are probably in the throes of getting your Rosh Hashana mailing 
done. This year, the mailing that I'm doing requires a large envelope. The 
printer that I'm using is suggesting that I use something catchy to get people 
to help ensure people open the envelope. Something edgy like "Shana Tova from 
Yeshivat Hesder Elon Moreh". I'd be interested in hearing about any success 
stories that you may have had with getting people to open your mailing. 
Alternatively, I'm also open to hearing what hasn't worked as well.
