I would like to add my 2 cents to tge discussion.
Thus far, virtually all the comments are reacting to the question of the
cost/benefit of the technical matter of passing funds raised overseas to
Israel.
The value added benefit of overseas Boards and Friends must be viewed from
a much greater perspective. These volunteer leaders become your greatest
supporters and grow your presence in the overseas market. Instead of having
1 professional fundraiser, you have a group of dedicated lay leaders. The
value if Board Development is significant if done well.

Of course, Arnie is correct but let me share that the paperwork that he
describes is onerous, expensive and totally unnecessary. We, at
IsraelGives/YisraelToremet, are able to facilitate giving from the United
States, without the burden of creating and nurturing a totally independent
board from your amuta. I can personally share many stories from my direct
experience of tensions between the Israeli amuta and the "american friends
of" operations, who by definition must be totally separate from each other.

been cracking down on non-profits that act as a pass-through).
