Shavua tov all,
I use Mailchimp to design and send bulk emails/newsletters/fundraising
campaigns on behalf of a few clients.
One particular client has lost around 100 names over two years from a list
of around 2000. I actually am not surprised the list shrunk as it did and
think it is in the normal range, particularly as many were lost after a
unique event - see below.
In 2019, the client used a third party in charge of a special campaign to
send a mass mailing using both the organization's approved database as well
as hundreds of new names provided by board members and volunteers. The
campaign was successful and approximately 150 names (those who ended up
donating) were subsequently added to the organization's data base. While a
number of communications were sent to retain these people and convert them
in to ongoing donors, 30 asked to be taken off the list. This has happened
over the course of an entire year with many receiving and opening 2-3 emails
before they opted out.
Historically, reasons for mailing list unsubscribing given were "did not
sign up for list' - "no longer interested" -- "undesignated" - "no longer at
address". Only one came back as spam related. The client, however, is
concerned that too many of our emails might be ending up in spam.

1. Does anyone have experience with Mailchimp spam and insights?
2. Other experiences with attrition?
Note: We are about to send another communication through MC and don't want
to change systems at this point.
