I'm sure that there many organizations who do this, and it's wrong. There
are many who count building fund pledges towards their annual dinner. There
are some that give receipts for tuition or other non-deductible items.
I think that it's the fundraisers who need to raise the bar. Emes is Emes,
and sheker is sheker. It's that simple. Think about it on either of the
following ways (whichever speaks to you) :
1. When you get that call after 120 years and they ask, "was this yoshor
v'tov b'aynei Hashem?" What wl you answer knowing that Hashem is behind
that curtain!
2. What you did is printed on the front page of the New Times.
Are both or either okay with you.

campaign and we would like to count your annual donation as part of the 3-4
individuals who are giving the matching funds? The donor then assents to
this request and is in fact complicit, when a matching fund campaign is
launched to attract new donations? Maybe donors know that the whole
matching fund campaign is really smoke and mirrors and the idea is that
donors want to give to the organization and it doesn't really matter
whether your dealing with new money or old money.
