Don’t give in to terrorism. Do what you need to.

Dear Group,

A client is about to shut down its FB account, which has more or less
remained dormant for two years, due increasing
racist-misogynist-terrorist-hate postings allowed on the platform.

While I know there is a powerful corporate boycott against FB, which has
recently lost billions in advertising revenue, on the part of a growing
list of international companies with their own questionable business
practices, I wonder how the individual user should act in good conscience.

As I shared previously, I am not a social media person and so am
struggling to figure out how to make the right statement and advise my
client. I am interested to know how others feel about this challenge and
are handling it. Rather than just shut down the account, I wonder if the
group has suggestions on how to make this mean something and how to
communicate with other users on the matter. Are there user campaigns that
can be joined?

Thank you in advance for your willingness to share your thoughts.

Stay well,

Lauren
