Useful link ... got any more like that?
I think it would be useful to add to the
list Welcome and FAQ files a bunch of links
to email-related topics: email etiquette,
spam avoidance, configuring email programs,
etc.

Email addresses are only a problem when list
messages go into public archives where spam
robots can find them. This has been an issue
for us in the past. For example, before we
joined freelists.org, we were using
http://www.mail-archive.com/ as our public
archive. In spite of their heroic efforts
to block spam robots, it was clear that some
were getting through and picking up addresses.

To reassure our subscribers, what we did is
* terminate the mail-archive.com subscription
* password-protect the freelists.org archive
* make our own public archive in which email
  addresses within message bodies get mangled
  (that's a lot disk space -- we keep most
  of it on the ISP web space of one of our
  members).
