Following a discussion with Francisco, he pointed out that he already
converted a Kölsch dictionary into TEI:
I had to learn that Kölsch is indeed considered a proper language, see ISO
639-3 ksh. I'd say this is a pretty good candidate for inclusion into FreeDict
;). Thanks to Francisco for the work so far!
Open tasks for the inclusion are:
1. The TEI is not yet fully FD-compliant, though as far as I could see, the
changes will be minor.
2. It is not mentioned how the data got converted. Is it possible to obtain
the source code of the utility that converted the TEI? What is the source
that was used for the conversion?
3. It would be great to have a maintainer for the dictionary, just in case
somebody would file a bug. Any Kölsch person around, maybe Francisco would
In any case, getting a Kölsch dictionary into FD and hence onto a smartphone
will be a big plus for the next trip to Cologne :-).
