Hi all
Our HackFest has been very productive and I would like to thank again all those
who participated. I think that we should do something similar again. For those
who did not attend, let me quickly summarize what we have done:
- Many presentations on day 1:
- Michael has a nice terminal-based vocabulary trainer, helping the user
by re-asking incorrectly translated words over and over again. It's not
released yet, but it's mainly a thing of code cleanup.
- Karl has presented WikDict and hopefully we can integrate both projects
more closely. For those who don't know it yet, it's a very nice web
front-end
with a lot of possibilities (stemming, dictionary crossing, etc.) to
enhance dictionary queries.
- I gave a presentation on the tools and started to clean up a bunch of
unused scripts / improve make rules.
- Day 2: discussions and hacking
- We are designing a new web site. Fabian is currently configuring the
static site generator "Lektor" for our needs and hopefully we can
filling the sites in the foreseeable future.
- Karl has researched and found an application which could bring our
dictionaries to Android devices, see his message an another thread.
- Michael has resumed work on a script generating IPA in `<pron/>` tags.
It's not finished yet, but I'm looking very much forward to it.
- I have written a script removing doubled translations in dictionaries, a
problem present in quite a few Ergane dictionaries. It worked fine for
deu-nld and helped to find a bug in lat-deu. It's now awaiting
integration in our make build system.
Looking at this list, I would say we were quite successful. :)
Cheers
Sebastian
