I read somewhere that they have been making pens only since the 70s.
I like Pelikans too, a Pelikan 400 is my 'everyday' pen.
I have contacted Pengallery in the past and like you found them very pleasant to deal with. The DuPont that I really want to get is the "Coat of Mail" in blue. I did not see it at Pengallery, will e-mail them anyway, no harm in asking.
Thaks for the tip, will try to contact Dave Mallinder. Is he a Dupont specialist?
Regards.

Pelikan and MB have been doing it for 80 years. Parker, Sheaffer and Waterman even longer. Parker, Sheaffer and Waterman pens have evolved into kind of characterless stuff, in my opinion. Pelikan makes serious pens that have great nib variety, easy nib interchangeability, good ergonomics, large ink capacity, etc. If you want a good buy on a Dupont, try www.pengallery.com. I got my first Pelikan there and have sent friends to him (Daniel) for Dupont. For more information on Dupont, you might want to page Dave Mallinder on Pentrace. Eric
