Amplifying what Mr. Deen wrote: After you boot from CDROM, you will need to look at the script 'ia_install', where it calls 'ft_get_size'. Follwing thru a couple of levels you will see where it compares the ID read from the hard disk to the entries in it's data base. The trick is to a) make it look somewhere else for that disk partition map (not in a CD based file) and b) to provide partition information which satisfies IA. You can copy scripts/files to directory '/tmp' and edit them there; that directory is created in processor memory during the boot up, and is the only one which can be written. You will need to copy 'ia_install', 'ft_get_size' and one or two others, then modify a couple of them. You will change them to provide a new partition map. You will also make changes to cause them to run from the '/tmp' directory thru the part of the process which sets up the disk partitions, then run from the CDROM for the remainder of the installation process. When creating the partition map for the new disk size remember to look at another one first. Sizes of partitions other than /opt are important. If they are made too small, IA won't run very well. Other partition maps give you a guide to the required sizes. '/opt' can be expanded or shrunk to get the other sizes right. For information about this process, read up on the Sun command 'format'. It is the tool used to get the Disk ID string, and to set the partition sizes. Also, you should probably make a copy of the modified scripts and files to diskette when you've changed them, so the process will be easier the next time. Remember that when the reboot occurs during the installation process these files (which are in the main memory directory '/tmp') will be lost, so get them before that reboot. There is a diskette labeled "Pre-Release Install" K0175SN-F which does this stuff for a 36 GB disk. If you have a copy, it may give you a little help sorting thru the process. Best of luck.
