Reply to Steve's question: Do you have a good tape??? How do you know the backup is good? I have tried three different backup tapes (different dates, same machine) with the same result from all three. I am still getting the "Panic: VFS_mountroot: cannot mount root" error cycling over and over again as it tries to reboot. I will summarize: 1. We are using version 6.1 Day 0 cd 2. We have a DDS3 tape backup unit using 4mm tapes (backup to a single tape) 3. We are using QF #991274D tape restore script (on floppy) 4. System is booting fine after Day 0 install. 5. I have tried all of the suggestions so far. 6. Have REM'd out lines in the restore script that have to do with file system creation and it did not like that at all! 7. Have REM'd out the lines in the restore script which I believe set up the boot table or sequence. This did not help either. There is something in the tape restore script which is causing a problem with restoring the backup to a larger drive with different partition sizes. Again, the system works fine when just running IA_INSTALL from the 6.1 DAY 0 cdrom. System boots just fine until I restore from tape. Again, any help would be appreciated! Also, thanks for the help so far! Best Regards, =3D20 Tim Rarden Process Control Engineer SMART PAPERS HOLDINGS LLC "You're Brilliant. We're SMART. Imagine the Possibilities" 601 N.
