You can buy Informix Dynamic Server (IDA) Workgroup Edition V9.4 from IBM
for Solaris 8.

For product information:

For OS support:

Subject: [foxboro] Informix question.

Dear all,
I've come across an issue that, in the end, turns out to be a major
problem.
As from V7.x the Informix Development Environment is no longer
available. I
don't know if this is a Foxboro or Solaris issue.
We use esql extensively in our applications on the AP (V6.2.1) and, on
our
newly installed AW (V7.x), this is no longer available.

The Foxboro solution is to maintain at least 1 box on V6.5 or less which
is
really defeating the purpose of our upgrade to the Blade series
hardware.

As a trial I've copied /opt/informix/lib/esql/* to the Blade and
successfully recompiled our applications.
This is offcourse a very temporary fix. I still can't do any sql queries
on
the tables using isql.

Now my question is, are there any alternatives for Informix available?
I would not have a problem with a second RDB side by side with Informix,
that has a decent Development Environment.
