I cannot seem to get it to work with the batch files, no matter what I do, I can't delete all the files in the directory and when I try to load in a batch file it doesn't seem to change anything. Is there a way to completely eliminate all the RTP's from the configuration and then I can just re-add them through the configurator? -----Original Message----- From: Lowell, Tim: [mailto:tlowell@xxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 1:45 PM To: 'foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: Re: [foxboro] Aim* historian problems Here's what you do: 1. Delete all the bad points from your historian. You can use the histcfg GUI or histbatch or histcbtach in /opt/aim/bin. 2. Using the program /opt/aim/bin/histsave which is the GUI form (from the command line it's called histcsave), dump your historian configuration to a file. Make sure you do not select "include deleted points". This will dump a nice configuration file of your historian without all the deleted points in it. 3. Remove the entire contents of the directory /opt/aim/inst/<your historian name> to clear out all the old data. 4. Run histbatch or histcbatch and use your new configuration file as the input file. This will create a new version of your historian without any deleted points. 5. Restart the instance. If you have remote collectors, it gets slightly harder. You will need to go to remove the entire contents of the directory /opt/aim/inst/<your historian name> on the remote collector machines also. If you don't do that, the configuration files that the instance host sends to the remote collector host will be out of sync, and the remote collector won't run. Over the past few years many historian points have been added that have subsequently been deleted from the ICC but still in the historian. Now whenever I open the historian to view or edit the points, I get a bunch of errors for points that don't exist anymore. I have to 'Okay' through them all for each page to view the good tags. I also have trouble with points that stop showing data on the trends randomly in foxview. When I re-add them to the historian they show back up on the trend with all the old data like they never actually stopped collecting, only stopped showing on trends. Has anyone seen any similar problems. Or is there a way I can completely erase all the tags in the historian and re-add them. I am not concerned about losing data, we have our real history in a PI system. Thanks for any help. > ********************** > Michael Telgenhoff Midland Plant Process Control Engineer > Dow Corning Corporation Voice: 989.496.6855 > 3901 S. Saginaw Rd.
