Yeah, I too get the same error when I run p2p on my machine on the
hostel LAN which is connected with a switch. Although my friends dont
have a problem running p2p on windoze machines.

to open the port in your firewall. I think you have done it correctly by

You have to forward the port in your router as well to allow traffic from/to
that respective port.
