I’ve been thinking about the kayaks. If the intention of the meeting tonight
is to approve the purchase, then I can’t support the expenditure that appears
to be involved (thousands of pounds).
This needs to be considered by the full executive and shouldn’t be approved
without full details being at the very least circulated in advance.
By full details, I mean breakdown of the initial costs (kayaks, life jackets,
paddles, trailer, etc.) plus a breakdown of the ongoing costs we would be
committed to (insurance, storage). Details of the planned use of the kayaks
over the first few years.
I’m not opposed in principle, but feel that the level of expenditure is too
high to be agreed by what appears to be a subset of the exec without the
proposal being shared in advance.
