Howdy my frind,

sorry that my mails are currently that short and useles - i m currently in sweden; stockholm for holidays.
i will do an more deep investigation as soon as i m at home next week.

in the meantime you can try the generic speech driver. its quite stable and performant as well :).

for that you have to start fenrir with
sudo fenrir -o "speech#driver=genericDriver;speech#voice=[your espeak language]"
this starts fenrir with generic driver. you have to replace your voice.

this could be done in settings.conf file as well in an permanent way.
syntax of -o is "section#setting=value;section#setting2=value" (sections and settings from settings.conf ned to be ued)

cheers chrys

Two things happen as spd-conf is run over here.  Before spd-conf is finished running speech gets choppy and suppressed this adverse speech state remains until the system is rebooted.  After system reboot no speech is available until after login is done and speaker-test is run and exited and another system reboot is done. The speech distortion happens after that after speech-dispatcher runs in whatever capacity by whichever software package too.  I don't know if anyone knows how to fix these problems since an initial read of the info file didn't describe these problems or what to do about them unless it was burried in the notes.
