This meeting was taken up with discussions on the iphone 4s by apple, as Gerry
was getting a new one
Mary demonstrated how to send an e mail using siri.
SIRI, is a application that responds to the users voice, so using the
microphone, which is on one of the ear pieces, one can talk in, and ask siri,
to compose an e mail, to a selected person using voice recognition and
ultimately sending the mail.
As regards the voices used, Cearbhall was using the default voice on his i
phone, while Mary was using a very clear Irish voice, who spoke irish/english,
but one can choose australian/english, and indeed american/english. as well .
Mary showed how to change the language, by going into settings, general,
international and then choosing the language preferred.
all this is done by a series of double tapping and single tapping movements
with your fingers.
The voice is selected in the vo menu, thats the voice over selection of
voices that can be used.
Cearbhall showed how to access this feature.
There is a feature to take a photograph, and have this graphic converted into
speech, and it was decided to have a look at this in the next meeting.
Gerry recieved instructions on how to turn on and off, the iphone4s
how to make and answer calls. .
how to have the phone unmuted or muted.
Siri is a personal assistant, and is very interesting and clever addition to
the mobile phone market.
We wish Gerry well with his new i phone 4s and await his verdict on how easy
or difficult it is to use.
