Good Morning All:
Both Marti Morley and I paid a visit to Dundalk yesterday morning with a
batch of used white canes where we were met by Conor Hughes a most inspiring
and unassuming gentleman who works tirelessly for those less fortunate than
ourselves.
He was telling us that he hopes to visit Ghana next week and that he has an
Irish friend on the grounmd there who looks after things for him. His friend
has discovered there is a school for the blind there and that is where these
canes are bound for.
Thank you to all those who contributed canes. A little can mean a lot to our
less fortunate brothern.
Such items as accessible games and magnifying glasses would also be very
welcome.
If any one has any of these items or canes nearing end of life, can you
leave them into the League or to Fighting Blindness at 7 Ely Place for my
attention and I will ensure they get to Conor.
As soon as we have another batch we will bring them up to Dundalk.
