I prefer to use Google to find out the trains that I need if I am on a long
trip. I regularly use "meet and Assist" at every station whether DART or
inter-city and I have never let them know in advance. I imagine that that
rule is really only important for wheelchair users who do have to be catered
for in a more elaborate way than we do.
I always ask for someone to assist me at the ticket desk and, so far, that
has been sufficient. In Heuston station and Connolly station it is
necessary to go to the customer service desk to ask for assistance and,
again, I have always been accommodated without any complaint about prior
notice.

Subject: [fb-exchange] Trains
Hi all.
I have to travel from Cork to Dublin on Saturday week, returning on the
following day. I used to be a regular commuter in my NCBI board days but
haven't had to request train assistance for well over a decade now.
While trying to get timetable information this morning, I have come up
against illegible pdf forms and am getting nowhere. In the past, there used
to be an automated phone service from which I could get all the different
train times but that appears to be gone.
Also, I gather that Iarnrod Eireann now ask those seeking assistance to
contact them a day or two in advance of the day for which assistance is
required.
Obviously, I will contact them by phone to sort this out but thought I'd ask
for observations on this list beforehand. On the face of it, things seem to
have become more complicated since I laast used the service.
