Well in the UK the 5th generation iPhone would have about 87 pounds sterling
off. My Maths are not as good as yours but unlocked it would then be 440.82 but
if I purchase in UK I will not get that VAT exemption as it is another
jurisdiction.

I assume this is a mistake but I was in the Carphone Warehouse in
Henry Street (on the left of the screen and a few buildings back from
the junction with Liffey Street).
I spoke to a Lady called Teresa who was very helpful.
I asked about signing up for the emobile select 100 plan for 14.23
euro per month.
She told me the iphone 5 16gb was available for 429 euro in store and
that the monthly bill pay charge was 14.23 on either the 12 month or
18 month contract. She recommended the 12 month contract as it was
shorter.
I hope to call in early next week so I will let you know how I get it.
if I can buy the iphone 5 16gb for 429 euro and pay 14.23 per month by
12 - that means the phone and bill pay in total for the 12 months will
have cost me 429 + (14.23 x 12) =599.76 euro.
After the 12 months I could unlock the phone and make it sim free,
Then I would get the eircom perfect 10 prepay deal.
For 10 euro a month, you get unlimited land line calls and still keep
the 10 euro as credit which I could use to make mobile calls for 10
cent per minute or you could purchase a 500mb data on on from your
credit for 5 euro or a 1gb data add on from your credit for 10 euro
per month.
Anyway will let you know how I get on.
A roundabout way to ultimatey get a sim free phone.
